Upcoming Events:
Learn to Sail classes start Sunday, May 8th at 1pm. 20 people are signed
up and 21 are the maximum number. $1215 has been paid for tuition and
to date there is $111.73 expenses. 4 Rainbows and 1 Martin are needed.
The last day of the Learn to Sail, Sunday, May 21 is also the Volunteer
Training Day, which starts at 10AM. Maryellen passed out some handouts
for review that will be “take home” sheets for the volunteers.
Rex & Maryellen still need to discuss and critique the training agenda.
The Chowderfest Regatta weekend is May 27 and 28th. Steve Mintz and Rebecca Stanley have committed to sailing. We have promised at least six martins for the race and hope we will be able to provide that to The Sagamore. The race clinic on May 27th starts at Noon for the racers and companions. Ron, Rex and Spencer will have on-shore and on-water training. Boats will need to be towed over to The Sagamore on Saturday after the clinic and towed back to the camp after the regatta on Sunday. Volunteers will be needed for both days. Dinner Saturday night starts at 6pm and Maryellen will make reservations if you let her know how many. A table will be set up for a Y-Knot display. Eva Galvin has volunteered to work the display. Tony Hall with The Mirror will do an advance story and will contact us for photos and interviews. Eva will provide Spencer with a list of accessible places to stay near the lake to be posted on the website.
Mike mentioned that May 11 is the NYS Governors Expo on Assistive Technology at the Empire State Plaza. Rebecca Stanley will work the Y-Knot booth and Eva maybe able to join her. BJ will bring a boat for display and Spencer will print 100 flyers for the Expo.
Fundraising:
Steve Mintz saw that Lakeside Farms partners with non-for profit organizations
by hosting BBQ’s. He is going to further investigate working with
Giffy’s on the same idea and will report at the next meeting.
The Ti Race continues to be a fundraiser for Y-Knot. The Corinthians would like us to put a packet together on how the Father’s Day Ribbons work.
Lake George Rotary says we need to be out for one year and then we can reapply.
George mentioned that 2-3 times a year appeal letters are sent out to approximately 325 people as an opportunity to give. The first of these will be sent out by next week. Mike wants to make sure that Kirk Marshall’s name and address are included.
Boats:
The maintenance days were successful and the final box of parts will arrive
soon. The color-coding can then be completed. It was suggested to add
stopper balls to the lines as handgrips for the companions.
Newport Charters:
George proposes and motions that we do not charter out our fleet of boats.
Our boats are available for scheduled events for our active participants
and members of Y-Knot. However the Board can make exceptions to approve
charters is needed. Rex seconded the motion to accept and all was in
favor.
Next meeting will be 6PM, Monday, June 5th at the Clifton Park YMCA. Spencer motioned to adjourn and Becky seconded the motion.
Meeting adjourned 8:00PM
