Committee has not had a formal meeting yet however, Maryellen Rudolph,
BJ Henry and Ron Byrne had a brainstorming session. A handout was provided.
Training, Staffing, Program, Processing and Boat Maintenance are the key to making the Y-Knot Program a success. Assessment of specific needs for each were addressed.
Discussion: Rex Moon sees the need to organize and schedule the volunteers especially from a financial aspect. Rebecca Stanley suggests for the Processing part to put a form on the website with questions to help us prepare for the Volunteers and Sailors. Rex Moon needs to get a copy of the database from George Painter in order to assess the Sailors and Volunteers. Maryellen Rudolph is going to generate a form to help with this process. Rex Moon suggested training stations to be implemented at the Training Day on May 15th. He also has four names as potential volunteers and will forward them to Maryellen Rudolph.

Rebecca Stanley provided a handout of ideas broken down into Publicity,
Outreach to potential sailors and Media.
Publicity package includes but is not limited to: three-minute DVD, generating 500 business cards to start, 2005 Flyer available on the website.
Outreach: contacting programs; Center for the Disabled, ALS, SCI, Mobility Works among others.
Media: contacting the various media; Times Union, Lake George Mirror, Post Star, among others. Hosting the contestants of the “Miss Wheelchair” Contest.
Discussion: Steve Rockwell suggested sending a letter to sailing magazines. Spencer Raggio suggested providing “Press Releases” via email. Mike Peluso voiced contacting the Lake George “Calendar of Events.” Becky Bonn provided Rebecca Stanley The Glens Falls Rehab Center contact name, Sue Diamond, and phone number 926-2078. Mike Peluso mentioned that Theresa Paeglow is interested in joining the Y-Knot Board and wants to participate in the Publicity Committee.
Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee met on February
2, 2005 and is scheduled to meet again on Monday, February 21, 2005 at
Mike Peluso’s home at
5pm.
Mike Peluso reviewed the top four fundraising goals and the avenues to take to achieve these goals: dock at camp; new boats; scholarship money to underwrite clinics; Rainbow improvements; and contacting past contributors, financial institutions, grants and asking each of the board members to provide at least three viable leads
Discussion: Rex Moon and Spencer Raggio believe the number one goal should be adding to the fleet. Responsibilities of the Rainbow maintenance is the Camp’s, however the Martins, Freedom and adaptive items for the Rainbow belong to Y-Knot. Rex Moon will provide Mike Peluso with Charlie Woods Foundation information.
Vice President Report, Spencer Raggio
Peter Ballantyne from San Diego, CA contacted Spencer Raggio about
four Martin 16s and two trailers that were listed on ebay as of February
15, 2005. The bidding ends on Monday, February 21, 2005 around noon. There
is no Cash Reserve. It looks as if three of the four boats have turbo kits.
Spencer has requested additional information. The boats are presently in
Seattle, WA. Y-Knot currently has approximately $10,000 with the
Corinthian donation included.
Discussion: Mike Peluso feels comfortable bidding up to 8-10K. The group will touch bases again on Friday, February 18. An email will be generated and send out to the board and members to see if fast cash can be raised to help purchase these boats. Mike Peluso will contact Peter Hogg in Burlington, VT to see if they would be interested in purchasing one. Rebecca Stanley will contact Dave and Susan Whalen. Becky Bonn is going to going to generate a price for transportation through United Van Lines and Overnite Transportation.
Spencer Raggio reviewed the autohelm situation with the group. A decision on replacing the autohelm will be put off until after the ebay Martin 16 auction is resolved.
