In addition to our Disabled Sailing program, Y-Knot Sailing offers a community sailing program open to all sailors on Lake George. Membership entitles you to charter any one of our boats at greatly reduce ates any day throughout the season.
All 27 boats in the YMCA fleet will be made available to the Y-Knot Community Sailing Program (YCSP), including a Hunter 28.5, 24' Rainbows, the 20' Freedom, Martin 16s, 14' Capris and Sunfish. The Martins, Freedom and Rainbows are all adaptable to varying degrees for use by disabled sailors.
Proceeds from the YCSP will support Y-Knot’s clinics and educational programs. Y-Knot’s mission is to provide and promote sailing opportunities for individuals with disabilities and the general sailing community.

All sailors, before their first charter, must demonstrate proficiency at sailing the appropriate boat, in particular disembarking and docking, to a Y-Knot Sailing representative. In the case of a sailor with known skills, this requirement may be waived. All sailing is done at the sailor’s risk. Sailors are responsible for the safety of their passengers and of the boats. Boats may be unavailable for charter due to organized classes, regattas, maintenance or unsafe weather conditions.
Sailors will be held financially responsible for damage incurred through careless or improper use of YCSP boats and equipment. Sailors are responsible for insuring that each boat chartered is properly equipped with personal flotation devices. PFDs must be worn at all times on the dock and while sailing. Sailors are responsible for maintaining a seamanlike regard for the weather and for returning to the Camp when threatened by storms.
The Y-Knot Sailing Board of Managers may amend or modify these rules and procedures at any time. All changes will be sent to members and posted here on the Y-Knot web site.
The Y-Knot Community Sailing Program is open seven days a week from May 15 through October 31. Boat charters must be arranged more than 72 hours in advance. Charters requested less than 72 hours in advance are subject to availability of boats and staff, and are subject to a $15 late reservation fee. The YMCA Camp Chingachgook office staff will accept reservations by phone at 518-656-9462 from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Map and directions to the Camp.
